My Favorite Summer Skin Care Products

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Summer makes me think of BBQ’s, watermelon, swimsuits, and lots of sun! We all love the sun right?! I mean who doesn’t love a little glow and some Vitamin D?! Carson and I have found a new love for the beach and typically try to sit sea side every weekend! I like to call it freckle season and I wish they would stay year long. I’m not sure if it was the move abroad, or just growing older but my skin has become SO SENSITIVE! I can’t even use Dove anymore and i’ve switched to more natural products. Now this post is NOT SPONSORED so I am not trying to sell you anything, just spread the goodness of all natural products!

Don’t mind that those labels are all in Spanish! STORY OF MY LIFE here in BCN 🙂 I have been using normal drug store products for a little while (i’m embarrassed to admit it) but I really didn’t take great care of my skin! I’ve been a lucky girl and never suffered through an acne phase but since moving to Spain my skin has become dry and easily irritated! I had shopped at LUSH COSMETICS before for some fun bath salts and gifts but never for my skin. I walked in needing a moisturizer and walked out with so much more! All of their products are handmade, vegetarian, and they only support ethical suppliers! Sounds like my kinda business!

SKIN DRINK: Facial moisturizer with nourishing oils and butters, avocados, aloe vera, and a light rose and orange neroli fragrance.

HERBALISM: Face wash with an exfoliating, deep-cleansing base of kaolin clay and rice bran to mop up excess oils, and a toning blend of rosemary, nettle and chamomile to leave skin feeling fresh, clean and calm.

AYESHA FACE MASK: Vitamin-rich kiwi brightens dull spots, enzymatic asparagus does away with dry bits and honey hydrates and soothes redness.

A friend recently introduced my to ROSE WATER and COCONUT OIL. I normally cook with coconut oil so I was a little hesitant to use it on my face! It is THE BEST makeup remover! I just dab a tiny bit on a cotton swab and gently massage my eyes till the makeup rubs off. Rinse with a little water and your all clean! When you use COCONUT OIL there are no harsh chemicals, alcohols, or parabens!

COCONUT OIL: we all know there are SO MANY great reasons to be using coconut oil right? it’s nourishing for our hair and skin and even better to cook with it too! I generally use it as a gentle makeup remove and it only takes a very small dab! Purchase the organic and unrefined when shopping for your skin! Now lets chat about rose water. Not only does it smell delicious but its has a lot of great benefits for your skin!

ROSE WATER SPRAY: A gentle refreshing spray that acts like a toner for dry or dehydrated skin! There are many places to buy this so keep an eye on your ingredient list and make sure its all ingredients you can understand! The one pictured above is from a farmers market in Valencia, Spain! So keep an eye out when shopping local because you may be able to support a more local company!

DREAM CREAM: Full body lotion with a calming blend of oat milk, lavender and chamomile: it’s gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin. Olive oil and cocoa butter are great for softening up dry or chapped skin, and rose oil helps to tone down redness and irritation.

And of course I couldn’t forget my LOVE of essential oils! There are so many amazing uses for them so i’ll just share a few of my favorites!

FRANKINCENSE: I use this when I have any infected hairs from shaving or small skin blemishes! it’s one of the only oils that can be applied directly to the skin with out needing to mix with coconut oil. It works wonders and i can trust that its all natural and safe for my skin!

PEPPERMINT/TEA TREE OIL SPRAY: Mix 4-5 drops with a little distilled water in a small spray bottle and use when you please! I use this on inflamed skin like hives, sunburns, and even itchy bug bites! Its so easy to make and cheaper than buying aloe vera or some cream with 10000 ingredients.

LEMON OIL: this isn’t exactly a recipe for your skin, but i will drop a few drops in my water bottle daily to give it a fresh lemon taste! it helps me want to drink water and therefore my body is happier when it isn’t dehydrated! especially in the summer!

All of the products are linked up with the bolded title if you want more information! What are your favorite products? Have you tried going all natural yet?! Your skin will thank you!

xoxo

Lush is mostly great! Some of their products DO have parabens & sulfates though, so you just really have to read their labels, whether in Spanish or English 😉

Oh! And I was referring to the coconut oil as paraben free! But yes always important to read labels on everything! I usually have to go home and Google it all in English 😉
