A little cardio, a little mental update

Hey friends!

I’m back from Canada and ready to get back on schedule! Thanks to a couple of fellow bloggers, Courtney at Sweet Tooth Sweet Life , and Katie at Healthy Diva Eats, i’ve become a little bit addicted to some Cardio Interval training on the Elliptical.  I love it! I get so bored with a steady run on a treadmill and it hurts my joints so discovering these workouts was great! I’m always a sweaty mess after each one!

The other day I gave this one a try…Courtney’s Insanity Cardio on the Elliptical .  sheesh! that was a good one! Give it a shot!

As I mentioned in one of my first posts, I’ve struggled with an interesting relationship with food. I was told I had to be a certain image, weight, and type in my line of work and food was always the enemy. Food became a love hate relationship. It was sad to me that the foods I enjoyed became the foods I feared. Eating well has changed my life. Sounds a little dramatic but it’s true! I’m no longer counting calories, exercising  out of guilt, and staring at an empty bag of jelly beans after a binge. My diet was all about restrictions  and therefore when I got my hands on something tasty, I couldn’t just have a couple bites! I lived in fear of the cause and effect. I started to notice that it was all I thought about, all the time. What an unpleasant way to live my life. I had so many awesome things to be focussing on but diet was always a worry. My sweet husband slowly helped me see my habits and began offering suggestions on how to fix it. Obviously the way I was living wasn’t helping so he suggested a change. I then stumbled on Pure2Raw and read their story. It was almost identical to my situation and I saw what positive changes they were making. I needed to know how they did! With a little research I learned a ton about a plant bases diet, free of bad chemicals and processed foods and ordered my new favorite book “eat to live”. Haven’t finished it yet but I’m learning so much. Most importantly I’m learning to be happy and enjoy food! I look forward to it now and appreciate what it is going for my body. I don’t have to live in fear because I know that what I am eating is healthy, tasty, and guilt free. Now, I’m not perfect and I have a long way to go but I’m grateful for other bloggers and writers out there for sharing their stories and offering help. It’s incredible how my thoughts have changed and my body too! Who knew happiness was the best cure?! Understand that this was a solution for me and may bit work for everyone. Just focus on what you need as an individual and you’ll find the perfect solution for yourself. Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed and over excited but I have to remember to relax and appreciate the hard work.

Isn’t it great when we can eat without guilt? Because we KNOW what we are putting in our mouths and bodies! And it feels so good too. I’m a preservative free eater…have been for years…and I’m not going back 🙂
