Lets Talk Spirulina

What is Spirulina? When I was little, my mother would preach and preach about Spirulina and the benefits it held. All I knew is that it was green and I wasn’t sure about it. Boy am I glad my mother believed in it because it seriously changed my childhood! Instead of drinking a soda, grabbing a candy bar, or reaching for something caffeine filled, my mom put two spiruliana tablets under my tongue and it did the trick. Now that doesn’t mean I didn’t hide in the cupboard stuffing my face with licorice, but when she did have control, Spirulina was always the solution. I didn’t understand it back then, but looking back now I realize that Spirulina has been a big part of my life since early on. So I wanted to take a few minutes and share it with you!

The awesome peeps over at Nutrex Hawaii are graciously sending me and some fellow FitFluential Ambassador’s some of their products and I’m looking forward to getting my hands on that Spirulina! I know that I need all the extra energy I can get and I need a good kick in the butt to start taking it daily again:)

  • Supports Cardiovascular, eye, and Brain health
  • Strengthens the Immune System
  • Boosts Energy Levels
  • Supports cellular health

Here’s what the folks at Nutrex Hawaii had to say:

Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica® is a unique superior strain of Spirulina with the highest known nutritional content in the world. It’s all natural, 100% vegetarian, Kosher Certified, and Non-GMO. It’s the only Spirulina cultured in a Biosecure Zone free of herbicides and pesticides on the sunny Kona coast of Hawaii. Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica thrives in ponds fed with 100% fresh potable water from Hawaiian aquifers and pure, deep ocean water drawn from 2000 feet below the surface of the Pacific Ocean. This ultra-pure, deep ocean water enriches Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica with 94 trace minerals and is a unique natural resource used in our patented Ocean Chill Drying™ technology which ensures maximum nutrient potency.

I’ll take it! Sounds pretty good to me. What I love is that it is cultured in a place “free of pesticides and herbicides” which is rare these days. Just like food, it really matters where our supplements are being cultured and raised. Without that knowledge, who knows what we could be ingesting?! So I am looking forward to my package arriving soon:)

Join me and a couple of other FitFluential Ambassodors Monday, June 4th for a little twitter chat @ 8 PM CST. I would love to hear from some of my readers and talk all things Spirulina! So don’t forget to include the hashtag #SuperNutrients to join in!

see you then!

Have you ever taken Spirulina?

Would you be interested in giving it a shot?

Spirulina is indeed a great source of minerals that is needed for our body’s growth and repair. The phytochemical contents of spirulina have been found to effectively curb the damaging effects of free radicals inside our body and a daily supplementation would effectively boost immune system cells and make our body strong and healthy.
