Hey Friends!
So first of all, I am such a proud wife after this weekend. Carson ran the Ragnar Relay in Las Vegas with the Zappos team! Let me explain how the Ragnar works. The race is 188 miles long and lasts about 24 hrs. Each team member has three legs of the race and the legs vary in difficulty. In between a runners leg, they hop in the team van and drive to the next exchange point. From what I hear that was the best time to catch some zzz’s.
This is what Ragnar describes it as…
“You and 11 of your closest friends running 200(ish) miles, day and night, relay-style, through some of the most scenic terrain North America could muster. Add in crazy runners, inside jokes and a mild case of sleep deprivation. The result? Some call it a slumber party without sleep, pillows or deodorant. We call it a Ragnar Relay.”
Carson’s team started about 1 pm on Friday and He did his first leg around 3 pm and ran hard in the heat! I decided to volunteer at one of the major exchanges so I threw on an orange Ragnar T Shirt and guided runners to the exchange. Lucky for me, Carson’s team was waiting at the same exchange for their runner. I got hang out with him for a bit from about 9 pm-1 am till he left to the next exchange.
peek at my orange volunteer shirt:)
Taking a seat at my volunteer spot:) Isn’t he good looking?
His next run was around 2 am! Yikes! I would have passed out and slept on the road. I later heard from his team that Carson totally shredded his runs! He was so fast! I was beaming with pride:) He completed his last leg around 3 pm on Saturday and I met him at the finish line with his team at about 6 pm. He was pooped! I was glad my shows were cancelled this weekend so I could be there and cheer him on as his team came running in!
Crossing the finish line! (see him in the white headband?)
Blurry but you still get the picture:)
That is such an accomplishment and was a big check off Carson’s bucket list! I am so proud of him for pushing his body and mind through a tough race! We spent that evening soaking in the hot tub and rolling out his sore muscles. He couldn’t walk down the stairs the next day! Pain and all, he did awesome and inspired me to make my own goals and start checking things off my bucket list! Maybe someday I can run the Ragnar with Carson or go all out with a marathon! whoa….maybe not a marathon but we’ll see:)
Have you ever been inspired by those around you?
What’s are your bucket list?
xoxo
