spoonful of fear! terrified for tough mudder

hey all!

happy hump day! first, i just wanted to thank you all for the sweet words about my new blog design!  i am really happy with the way it turned out and i would love to pass along the info of my awesome web guys! one of my fellow fitfluential ambassador’s designed my header! check him out at pavementrunner.com!  he is great!

i need this week to go by fast so i am hoping saturday is here in no time.  do you ever have those weeks when you feel like every minute of the day is scheduled? i do! on top of that my body is still so sore and walking is a treat. i better be rocking a six pack and killer legs soon! i amazed myself and rolled out of bed at 5 am yesterday to hit crossfit and i’m glad i did! we did 5 rounds of 6 power snatches followed by a 400 m run!

each time i hit the run i just imagined tough mudder and the amount of pain i’ll be in then.  i really don’t think i was thinking straight when i signed up…

can you see why i am a little terrified?  i have this awful vision of carson dragging me to the finish line as i black out.  lets pray that is not the case!  so how am i getting ready for this blessed event you may ask? i have no idea ha! just kidding ( i am pretty focused on getting ready).  for starters, i joined crossfit and i think that is making me stronger as well as faster.   i had zero upper body strength when i started and i’m feeling stronger just within a month and a few weeks.  as for the running part, i haven’t trained at all.  i HATE HATE HATE running and envy those that love it.  if i can make it a good 3-4 miles without giving up, i feel like i am on top of the world! the hard part is motivating myself to go because i hate it so much.

if you’re a hater like me, do share how you overcame that…sometimes i feel legit but let’s be honest…

i think that it would be entertaining to film my tough mudder experience but i am not sure i even wanna see that! so who are my tough mudderers out there?

how are you getting ready for the big race?

I have the same fear about tough mudder. so, I am not running it. hee hee. no, you will do great! from what I have seen, everyone is very supportive and will help you when you need it. I have confidence in you that it will turn out fantastic.

I hated running. Still sometimes do. But I just keep on going. And now, there are days where I crave it. Oh ya, and taking the run outdoors and with a friend or running group, totally helped!

Best to you and the race. You’ll do great!

You will have a blast doing tough mudder! It’s an experience more than it is running. Have fun! I’d love to see it filmed!

Don’t be scared! Tough Mudder is an awesome experience! I had the same fears and seriously smiled the whole way through it with my girlfriends. It was a blast, and such an amazing experience in camaraderie because everyone helps everyone! I’m now hooked and doing my 2nd this December. Beware, obstacle racing is addicting!!! Check out my blog, http://www.muddymommy.com, it’s all about training for, and running obstacle races (I have one coming up this weekend!), maybe it can help ease your fears! But, you can do this, don’t be scared!!! 🙂

I’m a bit of a mud run fanatic and a fan of Tough Mudder. I did my first one this year and I have 2 scheduled next year. They can be quite addicting! You will do fine and it’s totally not as scary as you think. Is is hard? YES it IS! Focus on upping your mileage and working on your upper body strength and you will be fine.

I have my first Tough Mudder this weekend 🙂 I’m kind of nervous because doing all that seems very daunting…even though I run marathons, it’s a totally different experience. I am going in not sure what to expect but being flexible! Should be an interesting day, best of luck!
