spoonful of time! schedule your workout into your busy life!

holy smokes…it is only thursday.  it feels like an entire week has gone by already! sheesh! with my work schedule in full swing and the holidays fast approaching, my schedule is getting way too full! between balancing 3 jobs, home life, exercise, and sleep, there isn’t much left over time to blog, watch my favorite shows, bake, or cuddle on the couch with my hubby! although, i would much rather be crazy busy than sitting around on my butt with nothing to do! so i do count my blessings that god has provided us with income and ways to use our talents.

so…when life is coming at you fast, often a healthy lifestyle is the first to go! so today i want to talk a little about scheduling your workouts!  sounds silly but i literally have my planner laid out daily and a workout scheduled in! if i don’t schedule it, it doesn’t happen!

intense right? can you tell i just bought it and starting scheduling last week?!  carson teases me that i don’t just use my iphone as my planner, but there is something about writing it down that i love!  i got sooo sick of entering it into my phone that i decided to just a planner! back me up here…anyone else feel this way??  so here are a couple of steps to make sure that workout happens!

step 1. purchase a planner.  i can always count on target for a great little planner:)

step 2. actually use the planner:) pull it out of the target bag and start filling in dates.  buy one that easily fits in your bag so it’s easy to take with you!

step 3.  lay out all the daily activities that MUST happen.  i.e. work, school, etc…

step 4.  now schedule a time each day to workout out! it doesn’t have to be the same time each day, just make sure it is in your planner and that nothing can be scheduled over it.

step 5.  be prepared to get up early! with a busy busy schedule, sometimes the best time to workout is in the early am! i head to crossfit at about 5:30 most days to get in a workout before the day begins.  it was miserable getting up that early to begin with, but my body has really adjusted well!  cherish the days you get to sleep in and hit the workout a little later:)

i couldn’t agree more! there are times i DO NOT want to work out but feel a thousand times better after i do! even if it’s a short 10 min tabata work out!

so go get a planner and schedule that sweat sesh in!

xoxo

I love using a planner and notebooks of all kinds! I even still write out my shopping list on paper most of the time instead of using my phone 🙂 Thanks for the tips!

I don’t put my workouts in my planner but I do look at my training schedule for the week and mentally assign days to each workout. When life gets in the way. I reevaluate and move things around but for the most part always get all my workouts in. Fitness is near the top of my list, so I move other things out of the way that are less of a priority.

I am with you on a handwritten planner! My husband uses his iPhone, but I just can’t do it!! I like my schedule {and everything} handwritten! 🙂 The first thing I do for every week is put my 2 non-negotiable TRX days in my planner {Mon & Thurs}. Then I look over what else I need to do that week and decide on 1-2 more days of fitness before penciling everything else in.

I love writing things down. I didn’t buy a calendar/planner this year and as I result I feel way more flustered. The iphone doesn’t do it for me…although I use the notes section a lot for lists. 🙂

I’m totally lost without my schedule – I do mine in my work outlook folder (which I access from my phone) but if it isn’t my calendar… I don’t do it. Period. I used to write things down, but I’m totally digital now – I hate printing anything!

I love having a written planner too but found that Google Calendars works so well for me because I have to use it so much for other things. I now use it as my training plan to schedule workouts and to even keep a detailed log under the notes for each workout “event”. Regardless of what method is used it all comes down to PLANNING!
